Work Cover services support individuals recovering from work-related injuries, with programs designed to promote safe recovery and return to work. Exercise programs focus on restoring strength, mobility, function and work-specific capacity.
Therapy is goal-oriented and evidence-based, supporting injury management while reducing the risk of re-injury. Programs may be adjusted in collaboration with other health professionals involved in the return-to-work process.
Accessing Exercise Physiology Services
- Referral Process: To access exercise physiology services under WorkCover, you typically need a referral from your General Practitioner (GP) or specialist. They will assess your ongoing symptoms and determine if exercise physiology is appropriate for your recovery.
- Insurer Approval: After obtaining a referral, you must submit it to your WorkCover or CTP insurer for approval. The insurer will evaluate whether the proposed treatment is reasonable and necessary for your recovery.
- Initial Assessment: Once approved, the Exercise Physiologist will conduct an initial assessment to discuss your injury, current symptoms, and recovery goals. This assessment may include a physical evaluation to establish baseline measures.
- Tailored Rehabilitation Program: Based on the assessment, the Exercise Physiologist will develop a personalised rehabilitation program that includes one-on-one treatment and education for self-management of your condition.
