Clients with a valid GP referral may access Exercise Physiology services under a Medicare Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) plan. These services support the management of chronic conditions through structured, evidence-based exercise programs.
An EPC is a Medicare-subsidised program that gives people access to allied health services to help manage chronic conditions. Sessions are tailored to individual health needs and may focus on improving physical function, managing symptoms, and supporting long-term health outcomes.
You may be eligible for Exercise Physiology sessions under an EPC if you have a chronic medical condition and are being managed for this by your GP. A chronic medical condition is one that has been (or is likely to be) present for 6 months or longer. It includes, but is not limited to conditions such as:
- Diabetes
- Cardiovascular disease
- Cancer
- Osteoporosis
- Depression
- Musculoskeletal injuries/ pain
- Fibromyalgia
- Decrease function/ mobility
If you or a family member are facing challenges managing a long-term health condition, the EPC program offers extensive care and numerous benefits.
